Mitella diphylla - Miterwort, Bishop's Cap

This native perennial herbaceous woodland plant has tiny flowers on a stalk about 10 to 16 inches tall. It blooms late spring.

  • <i>Mitella diphylla</i> ( Miterwort ) - Flowers are about 1/8 inch across.  On close examination the 5 delicately fringed petals can be seen.

  • <i>Mitella diphylla</i> ( Miterwort ) - This shows the tiny flowers on the stalk.  The midstem leaves that are sessile can easily be seen.  Beneath are basal leaves that look the same but have petioles (stems)
