Asclepias purpurascens - Purple Milkweed

Similar to the common milkweed but with deep purple-red flowers, 2-3 ft high.

The first photo shows the details of the flower. For more on the flower structure see Asclepias syriaca (Milkweed - Common) in this gallery. The relative horn height to hood height helps distinguish between different milkweeds. The second shows the flower cluster and the last the plant.
